A long waterproof coat, slightly padded, for the colder and wetter ends of the year. No need for waterproof trousers or a brolly. Just grab from the coat stand and out you go. Every man deserves one. Detachable hood.
MATERIAL: Feels like "cotton canvas".
WARMTH: The Trystan is medium-weight, this ensuring you are less likely to overheat during milder conditions (and the bottom half of the coat does not blow open in the wind). There is some light padding in the coat which means a slight bias towards cooler times. Material is hard-wearing and fully waterproof.

LENGTH: Full length. Over the boot for those up to 5'9" (taller than this then the coat may ride over the boot when striding).
HOOD: Yes, with drawstring. Detachable via press studs.
CUFFS: Adjustable via three press studs
SEAMS: Taped.
MAIN ZIPS: One for closing against the weather (protected by a material flap). The main zip ends approx. 47cm from the hem.
POCKETS: Outer pockets x2 (no zips or studs). Inside the coat there are two pockets (15x15cm and 10x18cm) - handy for your phone or keys.
PRESS STUDS: Light/medium strength studs, spaced 18cm apart, that continue the length of the coat until about 8cm from the hem.

COATS: In general it is best to brush the dirt off rather than washing. The less that coats are washed the longer they will last. The care label can be found on the garment. NO fabric softener or tumble drying as they can dissolve the taping and dry out the laminations which can lead to leaking.
Tweed coats are dry clean only.

TAPED SEAMS
This is a method used to make materials waterproof by putting a waterproof tape or liquid sealant along the seams (usually on the inside so it can't be seen).
WATERPROOF
Resists water droplets from passing through. Water resistance is measured by the amount of water, in mm, which can be suspended above the fabrics before water passes.
WINDPROOF
"Windproof" fabric doesn't let the wind come through. It is very useful to keep you warm. Fabrics are made windproof by membrane or by weaving them very tightly.
BREATHABLE
Allows body heat and perspiration to pass through. Breathability is measured by the rate at which water vapour passes through, in units of grams of water vapour.
Waterproof Testing
We are pretty obsessed with staying dry. As well as using our coats all year round, in all weather conditions, we test them in a variety of ways - including a fairly intense hosepipe test. Even after a full five minutes of hosing the coats remain completely dry inside.
