The Chelsea is also now marketed by Longcoats under the name "Demelza". It is the same coat but rebranded to fit in with the our Cornish theme (Longcoats is Cornwall based).
The Baleno Chelsea is a shorter version of the best-selling Kensington long raincoat. Same coat just a little shorter. In an ideal world we would have one of each (Kensington and Chelsea) and we would be very happy if all of our customers agreed with this sentiment.
As with the Kensington, do not get taken in by the Chelsea's chic appearance. Like all Baleno coats, the Chelsea is fully waterproof and created from a hard-wearing material.
The Chelsea is tapered for fit. Material is soft to the touch and the coat benefits from full inner-lining and a faux moleskin-lined collar.
Other features: Under arm eyelets to aid breathability; Internal mesh pocket; Zip-fastened inside-pocket handy for your phone etc; Adjustable cuffs; Two-way zip with storm cover preventing zip leakage; Vented tail with gusset; Detachable hood.
Baleno Kensington is 120cm from base of collar to hem.
Baleno Chelsea is 98cm from base of collar to hem.
MATERIAL: "Feels like smooth cotton/canvas". The outer fabric is a textured Dobby weave in 85% polyester 15% polyamide, with a waterproof PU laminate backing. Faux moleskin-lined collar and cuffs.
WARMTH: The Chelsea is medium-weight ensuring you do not overheat during milder conditions. Fully lined - not quilted or padded.
LAYERING: You will likely need to layer up for winter weather (zip-in fleeces do NOT zip into the Chelsea).
BREATHABILITY: 3.000 gr/m².
WATERPROOF RATING: 8,000mm hydrostatic pressure test.
LENGTH: Medium length.
HOOD: Yes, with drawstring. Detachable via press studs. Also adjustable via strap and velcro on hood top.
CUFFS: Edged with faux-moleskin and adjustable via two press studs.
MAIN ZIPS: One "chunky" zip (we like) for closing against the weather (protected by a material flap) and a second, smaller zip, for adding an optional fleece or gilet. The main zip ends approx. 29cm from the hem.
POCKETS: Outer pockets have covering flaps and press studs to keep contents dry and secure. Inside the coat there is a single mesh open-pocket - handy for your phone or keys.
PRESS STUDS: Strong studs, spaced 11cm apart, that continue the length of the coat until about 17cm>from the hem.
FREE DELIVERY: Priority tracked DHL, Parcelforce, DPD or FEDEX. Items despatched within 2 working days.

GUARANTEE: I am so confident you will be happy with your Baleno full-length coat I offer a "28-day refund even if worn guarantee". Julian Patrick, Managing Director.
COATS: In general it is best to brush the dirt off rather than washing. The less that coats are washed the longer they will last. The care label can be found on the garment. NO fabric softener or tumble drying as they can dissolve the taping and dry out the laminations which can lead to leaking.
FLEECES: Follow care instructions on label.
Although there has been no inclement weather to test it to the full yet, I am delighted with the quality, the fit and appearance of this coat which will serve well in heavy rain and still be smart enough for other occasions. Roomy enough for warm layers underneath and excellent customer service from the company. Thank you!
Thanks to the company for being so helpful about the coat length; if you’re on the smaller side go for the Demelza. I’m now warm, dry and, most importantly, have dry legs as well. Perfect! K
Been looking for a long waterproof coat for a while, and just happened to find your website.Thankfully! The coat is everything it says it is. Long to cover skirts/trousers coming to just below my knee, lightweight, waterproof/windproof, the hood comes well over my face to protect from the rain, stylish, and arrived in record time. Size was perfect fit with room to wear a thick jumper/fleece in the colder months. Although expensive I would definitely recommend and think it is value for money.
This is a method used to make materials waterproof by putting a waterproof tape or liquid sealant along the seams (usually on the inside so it can't be seen).
Resists water droplets from passing through. Water resistance is measured by the amount of water, in mm, which can be suspended above the fabrics before water passes.
"Windproof" fabric doesn't let the wind come through. It is very useful to keep you warm. Fabrics are made windproof by membrane or by weaving them very tightly.
Allows body heat and perspiration to pass through. Breathability is measured by the rate at which water vapour passes through, in units of grams of water vapour.
We are pretty obsessed with staying dry. As well as using our coats all year round, in all weather conditions, we test them in a variety of ways - including a fairly intense hosepipe test. Even after a full five minutes of hosing the coats remain completely dry inside.
All coats are suitable for general
outdoor activities in the rain.
We strive to hold good stock in all colours and sizes.
